Eleventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

June 18, 2023

“The Lord called to him (Moses) and said ‘…tell the Israelites: You have seen for yourselves how I treated the Egyptians and how I bore you up on eagles wings and brought you here to myself.  Therefore, if you hearken to my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my special possession, dearer to me than all other people, though all the earth is mine. You shall be to me a kingdom of priests, a holy nation.’”

What a message Moses had to deliver. Remember the Lord’s action on their behalf, listening to His voice and living out the covenant. They were special. The message is for us. We hear and listen to His voice, we strive to keep the commandments of love of God and neighbor, through the works of mercy.

Why? We are a special possession, dearer to Him, yet we take this for granted. As the twelve were instructed, they went to the lost sheep. This is my mission too: as what He has given to me, I am to give without cost to others in need, who are waiting to receive this message.
