School Building Update

As we move through Autumn, parishioners are wondering what is happening with our beloved school building. Over the summer, Mrs. Vickie Eichler, our Religious Ed. Coordinator, set up the first-floor classrooms to provide a home for our religious ed. program. With the help of Mrs. Mary Gill, surplus items like furniture, technology, supplies, and books were identified and made available for sale to other area schools that could use them. We still have some items available for schools and parishioners interested.

This Fall, our school building is the home for our Religious Education Ministry. We have about 100 parish children in the program this year. Due to the virus, parents have chosen between in-class and virtual options. The homeschool version of the program was piloted last year with success. Our Youth Ministry is using the trailers, and our scouting program is making use of the cafeteria for their weekly meetings now that the weather is getting colder.

We also have various groups from our community making use of our facilities. We are able to create some revenue by charging for these groups to use the cafeteria, gym, and field. One such group is the Cecil County Grand Jury, who is using our gym for extra space in order to follow COVID restrictions. Should you see police vehicles parked around the building, do not be alarmed.

Stay safe and healthy, and God bless.
