Second Sunday of Lent

March 5, 2023

“Bear your share of hardship for the gospel with the strength that comes from Christ. He saved us and called us to a holy life, not according to our works but according to his own design, and the grace bestowed on us in Christ Jesus before time began.”

We join the three chosen apostles with Jesus on the mountain, and Jesus shows himself, and with the three we too fix our eyes on Jesus alone. Our Lent this year calls us to that same holy life.

Pope Francis in his encyclical ‘Rejoice and Be Glad’ offers the path, the menu, the map, in response to the call to holiness. For us this is what we are being called to live. The model the Holy Father offers us is to live the beatitudes.

During this second week of Lent reread Matthew 5, pray over it and put what you find into practice.
