“Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when he had finished, one of his disciples said to him:
‘Lord teach us to pray just as John taught his disciples.’ He said, ‘when you pray, say....And I tell you, ask and you shall receive, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened to you.’”
How familiar! Can I picture Jesus at prayer, as when He was in the garden of Gethsemane, asking His Father to take the cup ‘but not my will, but yours be done?’ Can I picture Him praying as He blessed the loaves and fishes? Can I see Him at prayer as He prepared the breakfast for the apostles at the seashore? Can I hear His prayer as He said ‘little girl get up?’ Jesus at prayer.
He not only provided us with the words we recite so frequently, but we also hear Him tell us – right now - ask, seek, knock. Do I accept His teaching, as He taught the disciple who asked?
