Third Sunday of Lent

March 20, 2022

“When the Lord saw him coming over to look more closely, God called out to him from the bush: ‘Moses! Moses!’, He answered, ‘Here I am.’ God said: ‘Come no nearer! Remove the sandals from your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground. I am the God of your fathers.’... ‘Moses hid his face, for he was afraid to look at God.’”

Moses, taking care of his flock, noticed the bush burning like an eternal flame. Curiosity drew him closer and the voice spoke. Stop, remove your sandals, for this is holy ground.

God reveals Himself in different ways – the bush, the mountain of transfiguration. Where can I find Him today in my Lenten journey?

He continues to reveal Himself and His love for us as we read and reflect upon His word, as we observe practices of prayer, sacrifice and good works. Unlike the meeting at Horeb, He summons us to come closer.

Remove whatever obstacles that get in our way to be with the Lord.

I am called to live this Lent in new and deeper ways.

My mantra for this week: Moses response, “Here I am.”
