Thirty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary TIme

Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

November 20, 2022

“Let us give thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in light. He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. For in him all the fullness was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile all things for him, making peace by the blood of his cross through him, whether those on earth or those in heaven.”

The final day of the church year when we acclaim Jesus as our King and Redeemer. When they placed the inscription INRI above His crucified head, they gave us an inscription which tells us everything.

This year we observed the platinum anniversary of her majesty Queen Elizabeth. Born into a royal family she has maintained that title and role for seven decades. Born into the family of God by baptism, and anointed with the chrism made us priest, prophet and king, we too realize how special we are. We try to live up to the expectation of that holy gesture, as we follow unreservedly Jesus our King.

May we reverently pray, ‘Thy Kingdom Come.’
