Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time

October 16, 2022

“Remain faithful to what you have learned and believed, because you know from whom you learned it, and that from infancy you have known the sacred scriptures, which are capable of giving you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness...”

As Paul wrote to his son Timothy, he speaks to us. Every week at mass we hear the word of God proclaimed. May I make a new effort to listen to it more closely and learn more from it. I have the opportunity to pause daily, to read the word of God, if only for a few minutes, and then reflect upon it as I go about my daily work. The scriptures are God’s revelation to me, leading me to salvation.

Paul’s exhortation to Timothy is as valid today as when he first penned it.
