Updated Mask Guidance, May 2021

We are glad to continue welcoming all to mass. The following guidelines have been updated to and will be observed in our parish:

  • Although it is each individual's personal decision, we continue to encourage those who are particularly vulnerable (e.g. anyone with existing heart or lung conditions, diabetes, otherwise immunocompromised, and/or unvaccinated) to avoid the risk of attending mass in person.

  • Bishop Malooly dispensed the Sunday Mass Obligation for Catholics in Delaware and Maryland's Eastern Shore on March 12, 2020. This dispensation is still in effect and will remain in effect for the foreseeable future.

During Mass:

  • Please continue to arrive before the start of mass with your entire family.

  • While the 6' social distancing requirement is no longer in effect, we strongly encourage you to continue to wear a mask inside for now.

  • Enjoy the cantor and accompanist, and for now we will continue to refrain from congregational singing.

  • There will be no offertory procession; however, weekly offerings can be deposited in the baskets as the ushers take up the collection.

  • For now, we will still refrain from sharing a kiss of peace.

  • We thank you for continuing to receive Holy Communion by hand for now.

  • For Holy Communion, please come by way of the main center aisle to approach the altar, then return down the sides of the church.

  • At Saint Jude's only: A third Eucharistic Minister will give communion to the two side sections.

  • Due to an increased understanding of the virus, church sanitization will only be done as the situation warrants it.

Departing After Mass:

  • As you leave, please wear your mask until you are outside, and then socialize outdoors with friends and neighbors.
