December 11

"The blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised and the poor have the good news proclaimed to them." --Matthew 11:5

Advent thought for today: This week pray for the courage to make a difference in the lives of people around you who are in need.

 December 12

"Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word." --Luke 1:38

Advent thought for today: You, too, have been uniquely chosen by God. Recognize your gifts and be open to what he asks of you.

December 13

"I will leave as a remnant in your midst a people humble and lowly. They shall do no wrong and speak no lies." --Zephaniah 3:12-13

Advent thought for today: Living according to the Gospel is counter-cultural. Hold fast to what you know is loving and good.

December 14

"There is no just and saving God but me. Turn to me and be safe… for I am God; there is no other." --Isaiah 45:21-22

Advent thought for today: Jesus reveals God. Observe God, and remember he made you in his image, not the other way around.

 December 15

"What did you go out to the desert to see — a reed swayed by the wind?" --Luke 7:24

Advent thought for today: Take a hard look at the person of Jesus, then ask him to fill your empty places with his life.

 December 16

"These works that I perform testify on my behalf that the Father has sent me." --John 5:36

Advent thought for today: In matters of faith, walking the walk speaks louder than talking the talk.

 December 17

"The sons of your father shall bow down to you." --Genesis 49:8

Advent thought for today: Strive to be worthy – and humble – in your role as an adopted child of a just and loving God.
