Religious Education

All those involved in our religious education programs form a community of faith; children, parents, catechists, staff, and our church. Together we assist children and young people to grow in intimacy with Jesus. Together we can help them develop a love of their faith and encourage them to increasingly be able to make informed and mature responses to that faith. Register today and give your child the gift of a lifetime. Help them nurture their faith and recognize the presence of Christ in themselves and others.

There are three (3) components of Primary Faith Formation at Immaculate Conception Parish/St. Jude Mission Church:

The first component is Religious Education Catechesis. You choose which ONE of the three following programs best fits your family schedule:

  • Academy of Faith (Summer Program)

This is a one-week intense program that runs the last full week of June from 9:00 am until 3:30 pm. The children have religious education classes, games, music and arts/crafts.

  • Wednesday Evening (Traditional)

This program runs Wednesday evenings from September through the beginning of April and is from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The children have religious education classes, arts/crafts, and a snack.

  • Sunday Mornings at St. Margaret of Scotland

This program runs Sunday mornings from September through the beginning of April and is from 8:50am to 10:20am.

The second component is the Academy Card.

  • Each year you will receive a list of events to choose from. You MUST complete at least four (4) events.

The Academy Card events run from the end of September through the middle of April. These are family events and at least one parent/guardian must attend with their child.

The third component is the Grab and Go Bags (one at Advent/Christmas and one for Lent/Easter)

  • These bags will be available for you to pick up from the back of the churches prior to the season.

Each bag will have family activities for you and your child to work on together. Please pay attention when picking up your bag as your family name will be on it. Some of these activities will need to be returned to the office by a specific date when completed.

No matter which of the first components your family chooses to attend, the second and third components MUST be completed to fulfill the yearly diocesan requirements for Religious Education.

There will be a closing celebration for ALL Primary Faith Religious Education Programs on the last Wednesday Evening in April. Completion certificates will be issued at that time for all those who completed each component of any one of the above program options.

Please make sure you are signed up for Flocknotes, as this is our method of communicating and keeping you up to date with information, cancelations, or any other needs that arise.
